Global Brand Implementation

Rolling out a new Brand to all global offices taking into account regional variations and language differences was a challenge. We were asked to help design a way to bring the brand to the desktop, whilst saving people time and effort in their everyday tasks.

The bank decided to globally rebrand, rolling out a new logo and corporate image simultaneously on a global scale. In order to reach this target they realised that they would need help in implementing the rollout to the desktop PC's.

Rather than distribute a standard one-size fits all package, we firstly looked at all the various legal requirements for documentation produced by the bank in all the countries and territories that it worked in. We then communicated with all offices to find out the exact layout requirements for salutations and sign-offs in letters and faxes by location.

In conjunction with this, the head office had defined a brand specification that had to be accurate to half a millimetre on the page, with a custom colour way on the logo that had to match pre-printed paper documents for which custom ink had to be manufactured.

The challenge was to take all the variables and then roll-out a full set of templates that guided users through the new corporate layouts and creation of documents, so that as soon as the tool was installed they would generate uniform and high quality documents. Importantly, users would have no training, so the system had to be self documenting and intuitive and support different user languages.

As a result, we developed a suite of templates that ran via a menu and dialog-box system to allow the users to set up their own preferences and select from standard menus of available document templates. These were sent out to each office globally, as the deployment infrastructure was not uniform.

The installation was performed over one weekend and then 15,000 users globally used the systems immediately. We estimated that a saving of on average 15 minutes per day per user was achieved.
